Pharmacology
Flurbiprofen: One of a serious of phenylalkanoic acids that have shown analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory activity in animal inflammatory diseases. Its mechanism of action is believed to be through inhibition of the cyclo-oxygenase enzyme that is essential in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins.
Indications: Truflur eye drops is indicated for the treatment of surface ocular ocular pain & infections involving the conjunctiva and/or cornea.
Direction for Use: One or two drops 4 to 6 times a day for the first 72 hours should be placed in the lower conjunctival sac. Treatment should be continued for approximately 7 days but should not be continued for more than three weeks without re-evaluation by the prescribing physician.
Adverse Events (Safety data): The most frequently reported adverse reactions have been burning, stinging, ocular irritation and conjunctival hyperemia. Blood dyscrasias =, allergic or inflammatory reactions due to individual hypersensitivity, angioneurotic edema, urticaria, vesicular and maculopapular dermatitis have also been reported.
Precautions/Contraindication: The prolonged use of antibiotics may occasionally result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi. If new infections appear during medication or clinical improvement is not observed within 1 week, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate measures should be taken.
Pregnancy: Pregnancy category C.
Contraindication: Truflur eye drops is contraindicated in individuals who are hypersensitive to any components of the medication.
Storage: Store in a cool & dark place.
Dosage: As directed by the physician.
Packaging Information: Truflur eye drops are available in a 5 ml plastic bottle.
Keep medicine out of reach of children.
Use the solution within one month after opening the container. If the solution becomes cloudy or dark brown, it should be discarded.
